Forest School

Forest School is the name for an approach to educating children in the outdoors on a regular basis using an holistic approach. Forest Schools enable children to learn through play about the natural environment. They will be taught how to handle risks and to use their own initiative to solve problems and cooperate with others forming positive relationships. Children will have the opportunity to develop motivation, emotional and social skills as well as aspirational and reflective approaches to life. They will also develop awareness of acceptable and responsible behaviour in an outdoor environment. Some of the many activities include den building, knot tying, whittling wood, nature walks, story telling, environmental art and team building games.
